I have fix almost all the problems with the car, except the keyless remote. I turned off the alarm and remote about 2 years ago with the little key. The car sat for 9 months without a battery in it after the valves and pistons hit. I turned the alarm on in the trunk and nothing seems to work.

I assumed it was the battery in the first fob so I changed it, but it didn't make a difference. When the faulty key is inside the car, it says "key fob not detected". The second key works fine. The key fob has been sitting in a drawer for 99% of the last 3 months due to COVID lockdowns.

#2 · Feb 25, 2018 Did you swap the immobiliser chip as well as the blade and PCB? It's a small irregular-looking bit of bit featureless plastic, a few mm long, tucked into a small compartment within the fob. It could easily be mistaken for something that had broken off the fob.
Today, when I tried to start my Q4 (July 2017 build, MY2018) the engine would not crank and the IP displayed "Key Fob Not Detected". I placed the fob inside the center console, on the bottom, as instructed by the Owner-User Manual. The engine now started normally, with no IP warning.

Poor battery connection The battery inside the key fob of Giulia has metal retaining clips that hold the battery in position and completes the circuit. If the clips don't have any tension, it can cause contact issues and the remote may not receive any power. Make sure the battery is firmly placed and does not move around when you shake the remote.

The battery is really easy to change, but it's not intuitive how to get the fob apart. From memory, first you separate the two halves of the fob, then you rotate the central part that has the metal emergency key inside to reveal the battery. Maybe this picture will help?
